COPICON Congress 2012

The 2012 'Critical 4 Africa' Congress 2012 is a combined collaboration between the Critical Care Society of SA (CCSSA), the SA Thoracic Society (SATS), the SA Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (SASPEN) and the Trauma Society of SA (TSSA) and will be held in Sun City from 29 August - 2 September.

In anticipation of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine Congress to be hosted in Durban in 2013, the congress organising committee for this year's Congress has decided to focus efforts on enticing African delegates to the 2012 Congress as part of a proposed preliminary investigative excursion.

The topics for this yea''s congress will reflect probing questions into the relevance of practicing sophisticated medicine on the continent. Never before have all role players in the South African health care system been challenged to examine their contributions to all-inclusive quality care, as with the publication of the Green Paper on National Health Insurance in August 2011. "May you live in interesting times", has been proclaimed as a Chinese curse. The aim of the organising committee is to allow the 2012 Congress to shine as a beacon of knowledge, empowerment and enlightenment during this challenging world recession.
